Elizabeth

Kindred Yoga Founder, Instructor

Hi friend, I’m Elizabeth, co-owner and founder of Kindred Yoga.

Kindred Yoga was born (formally) in the middle of the night while on a trip to NYC in October 2019. I had been sure I wanted to open my own studio well before then, but the name and form hadn’t quite taken shape until that night. I blame/thank the Brooklyn Museum and Judy Chicago’s The Dinner Party ;)

Before then, (& before 2020 happened) I was managing and teaching at Glow Yoga’s location in the Spring Hill neighborhood of Mobile. This is where I started to see how yoga and community could come together to change lives and create possibility. My favorite vehicle for connection is when we’re all learning and growing together, in vulnerability. Yoga happens to be the perfect fertile environment for that particular kind of growth, so it only made sense to bring that community to my neighborhood, Midtown Mobile.

I am certified as an RYT 500 through Yoga Alliance, I am certified as an Ayurvedic Health Coach through the Shakti School 300 hour program, and I am currently working to certify as a Katonah Yoga teacher through the Katonah Yoga studio in NY.  I’ve also trained in trauma-informed yoga, restorative yoga, Reiki levels 1 & 2, and am a certified Yoga Alliance Continuing Education provider. Alison

Co-Owner, Instructor

Alison has been an avid yoga practitioner since 1999, starting her practice at Yoga Yoga in Austin, Texas and using Baron Baptiste VHS tapes at home.  In 2016, one of her instructors at the YMCA suggested she become a teacher, and she has been teaching ever since.  She finished her 200 hour teacher training with Glow Yoga in 2018, and finished her 300 hours training with My Vinyasa Practice, becoming a 500 hour-Registered Yoga Teacher in 2020.

Alison is a family law attorney, and she knows first hand how important the practice of yoga on and off the mat is for managing emotional reactivity and the stress of daily life.  Yoga has been a tremendous gift for her and she is passionate about sharing that gift with others.  She is excited to bring a diverse, varied, accessible yoga practice to our little corner of the Gulf Coast.
